@eska asked:

do videogames have children

yeah like it used to be a lot more of a problem to the extent you'd just see neo geo pockets and tamagotchis around, pac men jr, mappy kids, but for the past 20 years standard practice is to have all videogames microchipped and spayed

This attitude might sound a bit cruel to folks who weren't around at the time. But video games aren't particularly discerning, and when two closely-related ones bred, you ended up with stuff like the Yak Bak. Some experts even blame the late-90s spread of the invasive Big Mouth Billy Bass on an escaped copy of Reel Fishing that bred with a Furby.

The problem isn't entirely eliminated, either, thanks in large part to certain inhumane video game studios who breed for market potential rather than the happiness and welfare of their titles. We need to stop promoting and purchasing so-called "rare breeds." The fact that you can still easily buy a Bop It! is shameful.

just once in my fucking life I want a mech game that doesn’t look like this

soleilraine
@soleilraine

i just want a game that understands the mech as a metaphor for the self, as a way to explore the characters’ inner emotional conflict through their idealized form they are forced to take for external conflict. why is that this fucking difficult for games to actually do. Xenogears is still fucking lapping you guys

If you want a game that really plays with the concept of Mech as an extension of self and isn't afraid to get into deep or terrifying territory, may I recommend Heaven Will Be Mine? It's a visual novel that follows the path of three young pilots in extremely experimental mechs battling to decide the future of humanity, and also they're all lesbians. There's not much in terms of playing the mechs directly, but what it has to say about being a mech pilot and the effects it has on you are like nothing else I've experienced.

Also if you've ever played We Know the Devil it's quietly a sequel to that game, somehow.
Highly recommended, is my point
